Wallter Cronkite (1916-2009) didn't just announce JFK's death in the
30 second clip you often see. He did HOURS of ad-libbed coverage of
this unexpected major world event, creating the standards and placing
the bar for quality objective reporting of breaking news that millions
of people would soon follow in their radio and TV careers.
Above are links to THE FIRST NINETY MINUTES of the breaking
news coverage of the JFK assassination as it was presented by
Cronkite on CBS television (thanks to CBS archives and YouTube).
These are moments of spectacular journalism from a great news
reporter at work, as it unfolded.
